Friendship is a wonderful thing.  There are many different kinds of friendship.  You have those people who you're friends with at school.  You see them everyday and act like the best friends in the world, but that's it.  You don't talk to them on the phone or hangout on the weekends, and during the summer you don't talk or see them at all.  However, the minute school starts up again you're friends like nothing ever happened.  Then you have your at home friends.  These friends are people who live close to you, so you hangout all the time.  You talk on the phone, go places like the mall or movies, and even have the occasional sleep over.  These types of friends can come and go over the years, easily replaced by a new face.  However, there is one type of friend that can last forever.  This is the friend you can't go a day without talking to and when you talk it lasts for hours even if nothing important gets said.  Yet at the time everything the other says seems to be of the utmost importance.  This friend knows what you're thinking even before you say it.  They can tell how you feel just by looking into your eyes.  And they'll do anything to make you laugh.  This friend is the one you go to when something tragic happens in your life, and even if it's not really a tragedy they will be sympathetic and understanding, doing everything they can to help you through.  This friend will always tell you the truth no matter how hard it is to hear.  They call you out when you're wrong, but admit when you are right.  This friend is the first person you want share your good news with.  You can tell them anything and vice versa.  You want to be there for this person, to pick them up when they are down and share in their triumphs.  This friend is the one person you feel you can't live without.  Some people go their whole lifetime searching or waiting for a friendship like this, only to never have it.  Some people are foolish and let friendships like this fall apart and fade away.  Others find this kind of friendship and cherish it, never letting it go.  These people are the lucky ones, and I think I'm one of them.  I've never had a friend like Ashley.  I know we just met, but there's something there.  I can tell this is one of those forever kind of friendships.  Their not easy, it takes effort to make them work, but I'm willing.  The only thing that worries me is when the forever kind of friendship crosses over into something more.  What happens then?  Nevermind, I'm getting ahead of myself.  I'm Spencer Carlin and let's get back to my confusing life.

Ashley and I have been friends for about five days now.  We became instant friends.  We spend our free period together, eat lunch together, and we even walk to class together.  Since I gave her my number, we've talked on the phone for hours every night.  We would've hungout after school, but my mom has been off work all week and decided to make this lame ass rule about me having to come home after school to do my homework and chores.  Then we get to spend some quality mother-daughter bonding time, I can just feel the love.  Since moving to LA my mom has claimed the time after dinner as family time, oh joy.  But once the warden releases us for some yard time, I head straight to my room and call Ashley.  We talk for hours on end about everything and nothing at all.  And when there's silence between us it doesn't bother me, it's comforting just hearing her breathing on the other end.  We even fell asleep on the phone together last night.  How I would love to fall asleep listening to her breathing everynight.  Wow, I've been having these kinds of thoughts a lot lately, but I don't even care anymore.  I'll admit they do drive me crazy, but I don't want them to stop either.  I like thinking about Ashley.  I like Ashley.
