| I felt her breath hitch as I stayed by her ear for a second just letting my warm breath to tickle her skin. “Ash..babe the bartender wants to know what you want to drink.”, I said looking back over into her eyes. She looked at me a seconds gulping, “Jack and coke.”, she choked out still looking into my eyes. I heard the bartender huff, making me turn to look over at her, “Rum and coke.”, I said with a smile. The bartender rolled her eyes and went over to fix our drinks. I heard Kyla laugh from beside us, making us both smile too, “You should have seen her face Spence, that..was..awesome! Hell, you should have seen Ashley’s face..you kill me sis!” I smirked again but, Ashley went to punch her sister’s arm, though I wrapped my arm around her stopping her. She struggled a little at first before relaxing against my touch. Kyla moved farther away, “I think Ima go over here and make sure coyote ugly there doesn’t poison our drinks.”, she walked towards the other end of the bar. I laughed, though that may have been a good idea, the girl did look like a nit-job! I took a seat on a stool at the bar, Ashley put her arm across the back of it, her fingertips occasionally grazing the skin of my arm as she nodded her head to the music. I heard the light sound of her singing along, leaning close to me her face close to my ear. Another turning point; a fork stuck in the road.
Time grabs you by the wrist; directs you where to go. So make the best of this test and don't ask why. It's not a question but a lesson learned in time.
I smiled, she has such a beautiful voice. Kyla’s smiling face suddenly appeared, our drinks in hand. “Here you are..your usual Ash..I swear Jack is the only man she has had a relationship with in years.”, she handed the cup to Ashley then handed over mine, “Hey do me a favor and keep an eye on mine I have to make a bathroom run.”, she smiled before disappearing. I brought my drink then stopped suddenly looking over at Ashley. Her burrows furrowed at my expression, “What’s the matter Spence?” “That’s your usual..Jack and coke?”, I asked. “Yeah, why?”, she answered still looking somewhat confused. “Why’d you order a rum and coke that night?”, I asked. She looked at me for a moment then her face lit up in realization. “See that night, my drink order wasn’t what was on my mind.”, she answered with a small smile. I suddenly realized what it was she meant, making my cheeks turn bright red. I brought the drink back up to my lips, taking a large gulp of it. She chuckled bringing her drink up to her own, sipping slowly.
