"It's just that...Jonica is...is missing. And...I don't know, she's taken off before...but...with everything going on...and...with Lily...can you just please cover my shift?" Spencer could hardly say no.
"Sure, Car, no problem."
"Thanks, Spence." Carmen hung up and Spencer dropped back down to the couch. Before she arrived at Kyla's the night before Madison had finally called her back.
Apparently the cops went over to Sherry's earlier that day. Her friend was indeed missing, but the cops weren't too concerned because Sherry had taken a large amount of money out of the bank the evening of the hayride, so everyone was convinced that the girl just skipped town.
Nothing was being said about Cholo or David, but Spencer didn't think the Sheriff's station wasn't taking it too seriously.
As Ashley pushed through the double doors of the diner, hands full with plates of food, she nearly jumped a mile at the sight of the blonde in her work attire. She squeaked out a "hi" before she hightailed it to the last booth to drop off their food.
"Carmen asked me to work...sooo." Spencer supplied as she put on her apron. The lone customers were two old truck drivers. When Ashley gave them their early dinner they asked for the check. It was already getting dark outside and with the way things had been going in the town, neither girl thought business would pick up.
"Where's my-"
"He just went downstairs." Ashley told her as she went behind the counter to clean up. "Sleeping I think. He seemed...tired." "Oh." Spencer replied as she slid into a seat. "Been slow?" Mentally the blonde rolled her eyes at her small talk. "Hmm." The brunette answered as she drummed her fingers on the counter. Somehow they managed to avoid each other in the dead diner for nearly two hours. Only a few more customers came in and Spencer was perfectly fine cooking with Ashley serving. The blonde didn't want to wake her father up, he really did seem so tired all the time suddenly, and she didn't know why.
By eight o'clock, however, things were getting dire.
