She still felt Spencer's hot breath against her neck, even though the blonde was now sitting straight up on the couch, and the brunette knew that one two things had to happen. Either they needed to end the movie night so she could sleep off her arousal, or she'd need to be alone with Spencer for a repeat performance of last night.
"Sure, I'm getting tired too. And plus, Ash, you do have work tomorrow." Ashley nodded dumbly as she clutched at the sofa, afraid that if she let go her hands would be all over Spencer in a matter of seconds. "Was Carmen any better after I left?" Kyla asked as she turned off the TV and started cleaning up.
"Um..." Ashley tried to focus on anything besides the blonde beside her. "Not really."
"What was wrong with her?" The huskiness of Spencer's voice nearly broke the brunette. The blonde was still sitting very close to Ashley and she barely heard the question.
"She's still torn up about her and Lily breaking up." Kyla supplied. "She was crying when I got there." Spencer heard the words, but couldn't process anything but Ashley. "Ashley said she basically cried throughout her whole shift. She was a mess when Glen and I took her home last night. Poor girl. Okay, I'm going to bed. You two good out here?" Kyla asked, trying not to laugh.
Both girls looked like statues. Only their heavy breathing gave them away. Kyla's eyebrows rose as she watched them stare straight ahead, unmoving. "Okay...well...good night."
Neither Ashley nor Spencer made a move, but after they heard Kyla's door shut, they both slowly looked at the other before diverting their gaze again.
Barely audible, they both mumbled about setting up the bed and silently worked until there was nothing left to do but to get under the sheets.
Turning their backs on the other, they lay restless beside one another, hardly daring to breathe never mind talk. The heat radiating from their bodies was all the blankets they needed and it would be hours before they fell asleep.

By the time Spencer's phone went off, Ashley was long gone, already at the diner for her shift. It was a little after nine and the blonde blinked hard as she checked her ringing phone. Carmen.
"Hello?" Spencer answered, her voice hoarse from sleep.
"Carlin?"
"Carmen. What's up?" Spencer rose from the couch and stretched. Kyla, it seemed, was still asleep.
"Carlin, is there any way," Carmen sniffed loudly and Spencer could tell she was crying. "Is there any way you could work my shift?" Spencer bit her lip as she considered. She'd be working with Ashley, could she handle that?
"It's just that.
