The Killer roared. At the threat, the protégée's head snapped up.

"But you promised!"

"And I'll take back my promise just as easily. Kill her, or it's over!" The protégée only nodded, back to looking at the ground. The whimpers from downstairs were heard again and the Killer huffed loudly.

"You'd think I was torturing them or something! I have to do EVERYTHING MYSELF!" And with that, the protégée watched as the Killer marched over to the basement door and ripped it open.

"I swear to God I'll kill them if you DON'T. SHUT. UP!" The cries stopped, and the Killer slowly turned back to the protégée with a sick smile.
"Now be good and take care of what I asked."

Ashley had her hands stuffed deep in her pockets as she crossed the street towards the brownstone Sheriff's station. She didn't get an ounce of rest, fighting sleep, as she tossed and turned in her empty house.

She didn't even bother trying to sleep in her own bedroom, too afraid about what took place there with the pumpkin and maggots, and decided that her parents' old room could give her more comfort.

But between her terror and the events that took place with Spencer earlier that night, she was too restless to even close her eyes for a second. Even if Spencer didn't go to Kyla's later for their Halloween movie marathon and pumpkin carving, she still planned on staying at the small brunette's; unable to spend another sleepless night in her own house.

As Ashley opened the front door to the station, she was nearly run over by a passing deputy, too busy to even notice her. She watched the craziness all around the room, and immediately made her way over to the front desk.

A harried looking secretary didn't even glance at her as she picked up the constantly ringing phone and put people on hold; one after the other. Between phone calls, Ashley tried to get her request out but the secretary was too frenzied to notice.

"Deputy Tom Alteire!" Ashley finally screamed over the noise. Instead of answering or even looking up, the secretary just pointed down the hall and Ashley took her cue.

Several offices and an interrogation room later, and the brunette spotted the young deputy sitting at a desk, pouring over open files in the busy bullpen.

"Deputy Alteire?" Ashley asked unsurely, not wanting to startle the man and not quite confident about her news. At his name, Tom's head perked up and he spared Ashley a soft smile.

"Ashley, right?" He asked as he gestured to the chair across from him. The brunette took the offered seat and nodded. "It's awfully early, is everything okay?" He asked, suddenly concerned. It wasn't even seven in the morning and the teenager looked as if she had a rough night.

"Well um...you were...um...you were pretty nice to me and Spencer the other day when we told you our theory." Ashley faltered a little over the blonde's name, wishing her ex best friend was here with her now. In fact, Spencer was the only reason Ashley was in the station at all.

"Ah yes...the theory." He said with a soft grin.
