“Are you thinking about sex?” The last of my lunch flies out of my mouth, partially chewed Hamburger is covering my plate.

“What?” I start trying to wipe up my mess.

“Sex.”

“What about it?”

“Were you thinking about it just a minute ago?” I take my eyes off of Ashley to look around our favorite café. People are walking by and a couple is sitting just a few feet away, and she wants to talk about sex.

“No.” I sigh and rest back into my seat.

“But you think about it, right?” I just stare at her. “I mean, you think about what it would be like to have sex with me….right?”

“Ashley.” I smile at the waitress as she comes by to collect our plates. “I don’t think this is the appropriate place to be having this conversation.” I say once the waitress walks away.

“Oh please,” She waves a dismissing hand. “Everyone’s grown in this place. People shouldn’t be easy dropping in on our conversation. It’s not like I’m yelling the question from across the room.”

“Yes,” I whisper and Ashley just raises an eyebrow. “You’re my very attractive girlfriend. Of course I think about what sex would be like with you.” I finish then start biting down on my bottom lip.

“When was the last time you had sex?” Ashley asks as a gentleman walks past. I see him pause and glance at us before walking away.

“I have to get back to work.” I start to collect my things.

“What?” Ashley looks confused. “You still have like ten minutes left.”

“Why are you so obsessed with this sex talk?”

“Who’s obsessed?” Ashley snatches the bill up off that table when I go to grab it.

“You. Why are you talking about sex while we’re having lunch? It can wait until later or something.”

“I’m sorry…” She rushes out when I stand up. “Sit down, please.”

“You don’t even know what you’re sorry about…” She just pouts at me. “I’ll call you later.”

“What are you doing here?” Ashley is behind the front lobby desk where Toni usually sits.
