“Who was that?” Ashley asked sticking a pencil in her math book before she closed it.
“That was my dad. He called to let me know that dinner will be ready soon and that you and Kyla are invited to join us.”
“What are you guys having?”
“Beef rigatoni.” I answered
“Cool, I’ll be there. I’ll call Kyla to let her know.” Ashley said dialing into her phone.
Ten minutes later I was back at home eating dinner with my family and Ashley who looked like she was enjoying the food.
“Oh my god Mr. C this is amazing!” Ashley complimented on the food.
“Thank you Ashley. Where’s Kyla?” My dad replied.
“She just got off work ten minutes ago. I think she’ll be here soon.” Ashley answered eating all the food on her plate. From what I can see dinner was going really well. “Hey Kyla! Come sit, eat.”
“Thank you for the invite to dinner.” Kyla getting situated into her chair.
“I’ll be right back.” Ashley whispered into my ear while my parents and Glen were talking to Kyla.
“Don’t take too long.” I told her.
When Ashley came back from the bathroom, smirking, my parents were talking about our camping trip next week during the Labor Day weekend. Did Ashley really use the bathroom?
“That sounds great but I just have to check my schedule.” Kyla explained.
“Ashley what about you?” My mom asked looking over at her.
“Yeah, I’m down. I’ve only gone camping once.” I hope we can share a tent. I took Ashley’s hand under the table and squeezed it, letting her know that I was excited.
“Great it’s settled.” My dad confirmed.
“Alright! This is gonna be kick-ass!” Glen shouted.
“Glen. Language.
