Ashley: "I'm sorry I said what I said about you know what." She grumbles to our heated friend with her eyes still trained on the floor. Her tone doesn't sound sincere, more hollow than anything.
Gage: "Yeah, that was shitty." She mumbles back and then cracks her neck a few times. "I'm sorry I said what I said about you know what too." She mutters, also still looking at the floor. She, however, does sound sincere.
Ashley: "Yeah, that was really, really shitty." She retorts as she looks back up at Gage, her eyes blazing again. Gage: "I know." She finally looks up at Ashley, a little less angry now.
Ashley: "Do you really have feelings for Spencer?" She asks softly, eyes back on the floor. Gage gives me a questioning look but I shake my head several times trying to tell her that this charade is over. I really don't want them to lose their friendship over something like this! Gage gives me a calculated look before she shifts her attention back to Ashley.
Gage: "Yeah, Davies, I do!" I let out a sigh and roll my eyes. Spencer: "Gwen..."
Gage: "No, Spence. I'm allowed to have feelings for you, and since Ashley ended it she really can't be mad." Gage gives me a warning look and not sure what I should do here. I look to Sara and Kelly but they both shrug and give me sympathetic smiles.
Ashley: "I understand." She says miserably before she quickly leaves the cafe, never looking at any of us once.
Spencer: "What the hell, Gwen?!" I yell at her and slap her shoulder hard once Ashley has departed.
Gage: "If Davies is gonna be a pussy, Spence, then we'll treat her like one. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to ice the fuck out of my lip because that fucking hurt like hell! And also, I have to go make this up to Jessica, cause she's gonna be a little pissed!" She gives me a small smile that I grudgingly return before she leaves the cafe as well. Sara: "I swear to God, if this ruins my wedding I'm going to beat Ashley's ass!" She informs us as she folds her arms across her chest.
Kelly: "Something tells me Gage knows what she's doing, baby." She assures her as she rubs her shoulders a little. I take a minute to soak in everything that just happened, from Jess embarrassing herself in front of practically the whole school, to Gage lying to get Ashley to act, to Ashley's anger- and to the way we couldn't help but be drawn to one another. My whole body knows it when Ashley's around. When she looked at me, I didn't feel like anything was missing, I felt complete again. Spencer: "Okay, the show's over, everyone go back to eating your lunches!" I yell to the cafe, which immediately begins to bustle again. "I'm outta here," I say to Sara and Kelly. "I have to go to P.E.. Oh what fun that will be if Ashley decides to attend!" I say with mock enthusiasm as I make my way out of the cafe. I seriously don't need another Ashley/Gage brawl.
Sure enough, when I get to P.
