She asks from her chair with a raised eyebrow.
Spencer: "No!" I say defensively as I remove the paper from my back pocket. They all look a little relieved at the knowledge that I'm not using the oldies song as my grand gesture to Ashley. I clear my voice again, blow into my tuba, and then grip the paper in my hands and start to sing. "When a woman loves a woman, can't keep her mind on nothing else, she'd trade the world for a good thing. Cause you make me feel, you make me feel, you make me feel like a natural woman. Oh yeah, when you smile, you smile, oh and then the spell was cast. And I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying, and I'm crazy for loving you. I'm crazy for you. But my darling, I can't get enough of your love babe. Cause baby love, my baby love, been missing ya, miss kissing ya. Sleight of hand and twist of fate, on a bed of nails she makes me wait, and I wait, without you. Instead of breaking up, let's do some kissing and making up. Don't throw our love away. And I will always love you. I will always love you, you, my darling you. I need you so that I could die, I love you so, that is why, whenever I want you, all I have to do is drea-ea-ea-eam, dream, dream, dream. Cause I'm dreaming of you tonight, till tomorrow, I'll be holding you tight. I got sunshine, on a cloudy day. When it's cold outside, I've got the month of May. And my heart with go on and on. Why do birds suddenly appear, everything you are near? Just like me, they long to be, close to you!" I blow into my tuba and wait for their reaction.
Jessica: "Spencer." She starts and then stops. All of their eyes are narrowed. I just watch, Sara frozen on Kelly's lap on their chair, Gage's mouth slightly open as she holds Jess to her on the couch. And I sit on the mattress on the floor, hoping that they don't notice.
Gage: "What was that...like ten or so love songs strewed together?" She finally asks with a raised eyebrow.
Sara: "And...not really well, Spence."
Kelly: "Yeah, Spence, that didn't even make sense."
Spencer: "For your information, it was fourteen loves songs, and they're the greatest love songs ever! They can say it better than I can!" I defend as I cross my arms over my chest.
Jessica: "You're ridiculous." She states with a laugh. I roll my eyes and crumple up the paper and toss it across the hole.
Spencer: "I've tried, honestly I have. I've been listening to love songs on my iPod, like, every time I get a spare minute, you know for inspiration, but I'm coming up blank! I don't even know why I thought I could write her a song." I finish miserably.
Kelly: "Spence, forget about those other songs. Just be you.
