I need to know how much I've lost her. I need to know if she's fully made up her mind about not being with me.
Ashley: "If...if that's what you want." She whispers out against my lips. My eyes slide shut as I wait for her mouth to find mine. But I don't open my eyes when I feel her peel herself off of me. And I don't get up from the ground as I watch Ashley hurriedly cross the rugby field and make her way up to the school. I just stay there, wondering if this is actually a victory or not.
Gage: "That looked promising." Is said above me as we both watch Ashley disappear behind the doors of Marshall Daniel's.
Spencer: "Hm." Gage helps me to my feet as I continue to consider what's next. Gage: "I talk to Tess...I mean, McSlutty." I make a grunting noise to tell her to continue, not even interested in what was said as my eyes stay on a point far in the distance. "It turns out that Davies is blacklisted."
Spencer: "Oh." I say distractedly. "Wait, what?" I ask as I turn to her only to see her smiling.
Gage: "No one is making a move on her, Spence." I let out a sigh of relief. Spencer: "Thanks for doing that, Gwen." I tell her sincerely.
Gage: "That's the thing, I didn't do it." I turn to look at her, slightly confused. Spencer: "What'dya mean?" I ask as I cock my head.
Gage: "Ashley did it. She spread the word that no one is to come near her." I file that information away along with all the rest of it. My head is starting to hurt.
Spencer: "Okay, how's this sound?" I ask my friends later that night up in the hole. I bring my tuba up to my mouth and blow hard a few times before I place it down beside me and clear my throat. "Each time we have a quarrel, it almost breaks my heart." I sing. "Cause I'm so afraid, that we will have to part. Each night I ask the stars up above, why must I beeee a teenager in loveeee!" I pick my tuba back up and blow really hard once before I again put it down and look up questionably at Gage, Jess, Sara and Kelly.
Sara: "Spence...that's already a song." I duck my head and let out a frustrated sigh. Spencer: "I can't write!" I yell as I give my tuba a resentful shove.
Kelly: "Is that all you've come up with, Spence?"
