“I can sleep over,” Spencer announced walking back into her bedroom and she had started packing her bag with clothes for the next day.
~
When they had arrived at Ashley’s house; the brunette explained quickly that her friend needed to sleep over, which her mom had agreed of course.
Ashley’s parents had adored Spencer; they knew that the blonde had the potential to be their daughter-in-law in the near future also. Which of course they did not share this information with anyone but themselves but they couldn’t have picked a better girl for their oldest daughter themselves. Now they only had to worry about the younger brunette…
The brunette and blonde had gotten situated on Ashley’s bed facing each other lying down with about a foot of space between one another.
“You are so much better than talking to a stuffed animal,” Whispered Spencer as she pushed away a piece of Ashley’s hair out of the brunette’s face.
“I’d hope so,” Smiling Ashley had intertwined their fingers.
“You’re so much better than her,” Spencer closed her eyes and kissed the back of Ashley’s hand.
“The stuffed animal? You told me that,” Ashley wondered aloud.
Spencer grinned at her brunette, “You’re better than both of them.”
Ashley was beyond confused now and wondered who this other girl could be. Was she a threat to their relationship in any way? The brunette’s mind wondered around all the possibilities at who this person could be and Spencer watched the brunette debate with herself, chuckling.
“She moved away,” Spencer reassured the confused brunette, “This was her,” Spencer removed the locket from around her neck and opened it revealing a picture of a dark haired girl smiling brightly.
Staring at the picture Ashley had felt a pang of jealousy in her heart, “What’s her name?” The brunette had tried to sound perfectly normal but Spencer had quickly caught the hint of sadness.
“Uh her name is Carmen. I haven’t heard from her since she moved,” Spencer tried her best to make the brunette somewhat better.
“You miss her?” Ashley asked gazing into Spencer’s deep blue eyes.
“Not anymore; ever since I met you I barely remember her,” Answered the blonde truthfully making the brunette grin.
Spencer closed her locket and instead of putting it on again she slipped it into her bag.
“As much as I’d love to have you all to myself tonight Spence, it’s family game night and um, well, would you like to join?” Ashley asked as casually as possible, she was a bit embarrassed that her parents made her sit and play a board game every week, although she did enjoy it.
Smiling Spencer nodded, her parents have never sat down out of their way and played a board game with her; therefore she thought it would be fun.
“Great cause-” Suddenly the brunette was interrupted by her sister.
“Get ready for dinner, and be prepared for total defeat! You’re going down losers!” Soon Kyla ran out of Ashley’s room, and Spencer was surprised but could not hold her laughter.
“Is she that badass while playing Life?” Spencer giggled.
“You don’t want to get started with Life, I swear she cheats… She tapes two damn cars together and stuffs them with kids,” Spencer had laughed harder and the two had descended down the stairs toward the dining room. As Kyla had said they were ‘marching to their defeat,’ as they entered the room.
After they had eaten they started playing Monopoly, soon the game got boring but in the end Kyla had won, after that they group played clue, trivial pursuit and other various games until they decided that enough was enough and they all decided to turn in for the night.
“Come on guys! One more game of connect four!” Kyla argued but everyone had ignored her and started walking up the stairs.
Soon enough everyone was in bed asleep, at least that was what Spencer had thought when she let the tears run down her face. She tried to stay quiet so she did not wake Ashley, though small whimpering escaped her lips. Ashley had always been a light sleeper, a fact that Spencer did not know and she woke up to the sounds of her whimpering. The brunette did not mind however, all she wanted was for her blonde to be ok. Ashley had wrapped her arms around Spencer and hugged her from behind, making the blonde’s tears cease, and she smiled.
Both girls soon drifted off to sleep…
