Sara exclaims as her face lights up.
Kelly: "Absolutely not, Sara!" Kelly scolds.
Sara: "But she's the only one!" Sara says in a singsong voice as she smiles brightly.
Kelly: "That's true but..."
Sara: "And it would make it soooo devilishly entertaining!"
Kelly: "You're evil!" The three of us look between Sara and Kelly and wait for the punch line. Sara meets Jess' eye and Jess' eyes narrow before she chuckles softly and shakes her head. She lets out an amused smile before glances up to where Ashley stands at the front of the cafe with her back to us. Jess rolls her eyes and gives her girlfriend a quick kiss on the cheek before she stands.
Jessica: "You owe me one, Spencer. And she's only on loan!" I look to Gage's confused expression, Sara's excited face, and to Kelly's slight smirk as she continues to shake her head.
Spencer: "What?" I ask, still confused.
Jessica: "You bitch!" She suddenly screams at me, making my eyes widen. The attention of the cafe turns to us; everyone goes silent. She then dramatically turns and hurries out of the cafe with her hands covering her eyes.
Spencer: "Okay, what the hell was that?" I whisper hurriedly, my eyes still fixed on the door Jess just disappeared through.
Gage: "Fuck, Dooly! No, absolutely not!" I turn to see Gage shaking her head, looking pissed.
Kelly: "Too late now, Ash saw the whole thing and she's on her way over here."
Spencer: "What the hell is going on?!" I whisper again.
Ashley: "What was that about?" She asks as she takes Jess' old seat, across from me. "Was Jess crying?" She asks the table as she eats a chicken nugget. What just happened is erased from my thoughts. Ashley isn't sitting next to me. I stare down at the tray full of chicken nuggets that I got her and moodily push them around. I ignore the deep sigh from Gage as the table grows quiet, just immersed in thoughts of Ashley.
Gage: "I have something I need to tell you, Ash."
Ashley: "Shoot." She answers distractedly. I keep my eyes on the table and continue to wonder what Ashley's problem is.
Gage: "You're not going to like it." She warns her.
Ashley: "Oooookay?" Why hasn't she made a move to fix things yet?
Gage: "Jess and I broke up." She informs her. Wait..
