Bleeding from the neck. Bleeding from the word I carved into his skin that would scar and perhaps fade- eventually. But until that day, the word "Rapist" would be edged into his skin so that everyone would know. He would be sent to jail for the crimes he had committed at the hotel room. He would be kept in jail for the false crimes Ashley and my friends put in his file. And even if he were to get out one day, Kevin Jenkins would find that he would have nothing to come back to. He didn't know it, but he lost his life that day he raped me. I lost a lot too that day. But unlike him, my life after that only got better. Each day gets better and better. I went to Ms. Diaz's house and thanked her again and again for everything she'd done for me and continues to do. I'm guessing that Ashley's private conversation with her once I went to the restroom put an end to Ms. Diaz's financial responsibility of me. I held my mother in my arms for a long time before I promised that I'd see her soon and call her when I got back to school. I gave my brother an equality long hug and made the same promise. I held my Goddaughter in my arms as I swore to her that I'd be spoiling her in no time. And then we all took the Martin to the airport to board the Dooly's jet; stocked fully with alcohol. But I found that I didn't need any of it this time. We touched down in Vermont late Monday night and we barely spoke a word as we drove back to Marshall Daniel's. There really wasn't much to say. We went to Ohio so that I could get closure and I had managed just that, and so much more. I was able to forgive and heal. I was able to thank those who had helped me in the past and are there for me now. And tomorrow, when I get up and attend my first full day of Marshall Daniel's, I will know that despite everything that I've gone through and all the crazy things that happened in Ohio that I am whole again. That I am Spencer Carlin again. But, you know, the improved model that has sex in bathrooms. And that's a Spencer Carlin I can live with.
