As the group was walking to the theater Chloe had tapped Ashley’s shoulder to get her attention.
“You think he likes zebras?” Chloe whispered to her friend.
“I don’t know, Chlo. Ask him,” Ashley laughed to herself at her friend’s foolishness.
“Hey, Tom. Do you like zebras?” Chloe asked casually as if asking him his favorite color.
“Yeah; they’re my favorite animal,” He said shrugging; Chloe squealed making Spencer and Ashley laughed in the process.
Walking around for about an hour; the group of six decided to grab a seat in the food court. Ashley was busy talking with Spencer and Sean was busy talking to Chelsea; which led Chloe and Tom not speaking although they truly wished the other would speak up.
“So… Are you thirsty?” Tom finally spoke and Emma nodded with a small smile. The two excused themselves from the table; not like anyone was paying attention.
“I have to go pick up something for my mom for her birthday; do you mind going with me?” Chelsea asked Sean with a shy smile which he quickly agreed.
Neither of the two remaining girl had realized that all of their friends had gone their separate ways; and when Ashley finally realized it; she wasn’t surprised.
“Think they’re all going to date?” Ashley asked Spencer casually chuckling to herself.
“Well it’s a definite possibility,” Spencer shrugged.
As the two girls chatted they did not notice Chloe watching them intently, of course the court being full did not help her find the perfect view of the two. Chloe sipped her soda; and stared at the girls until Tom had cleared his throat.
“What, you like them or something? Not that anything is wrong with that; you just have been staring. So I thought you might… Or maybe not,” He rambled making Chloe turn and smile at him.
“No, I’m just finding a way to push them together,” Tom nodded.
“Yeah, I know they seem so perfect for each other.” She agreed quickly.
“I know! It’s so cute it’s almost sickening,” They shared a small laugh.
“So, you like Zebras?” Tom said with a smile.
“Yeah,” Chloe was embarrassed and kicked invisible dirt that was on the floor.
“They’re cool animals. My dad always thought it was weird that I liked zebras instead of lions, but hey what can you say I’m a zebra kind of guy,” Chloe stared into his green eyes; as if they were the grasslands and zebras were frolicking in them. She sighed contently.
“Are you ok?” Tom asked worried and a bit uncomfortable that she was staring at him for some time.
“Oh! Yeah, sorry… You have nice eyes,” She blushed and looked away from him, toward the table her friend was sitting at, but she noticed they were gone.
“Thanks,” He has been told his eyes were nice before, but it never seemed to impact him as much as when she said it.
“They disappeared,” Chloe said changing the subject.
“Seems like they all have,” Tom pointed out, noticing the table was occupied by another group.
“Maybe we should find them?” Tom nodded and the two started wandering about in search of their four ‘missing’ friends.
