The week came and went; the two girls had now an unbreakable bond; spending what time they could with one another. It was Friday and both girls were in their forth block class waiting for the time they could leave. Spencer had been thinking of the perfect way to ask Ashley to join her to go to the mall. Of course Spencer’s friends would join them; but spending as much time with this particular girl made her days worth living…
Writing usually was one of Ashley’s preferred classes; but her instructor this year made her want to exchange classes. Unfortunately her parents thought this was a learning occurrence to work with people that were unbearable in every way.
“I hate this class,” Ashley mumbled to herself whilst writing down the notes the teacher was writing sloppily on the board.
“So do I,” Chelsea groaned squinting to see the board.
“He is so annoying,” Ashley whispered as Chelsea nodded agreeing.
Chelsea sighed thinking of the best way to approach the matter of her friend…
“You know Spencer; right?” Chelsea asked casually trying to hide the anxiousness.
“Yeah; I do,” Ashley smiled to herself as she thought of her beautiful new found friend.
“So what do you think of her?” Chelsea asked.
“I… um well-,” She was cut off by her teacher before she had the time to answer.
“Is she bothering you? Chelsea; grab your books and sit in the hall!” Their English teacher ordered and reluctantly Chelsea picked up her books and dragged herself into the hallway.
Ashley was relieved at the break she had gotten; she knew how she felt for Spencer and sure she wanted to express those feelings but she just didn’t know how Spencer would react to them.
As forth block finally ended Ashley pushed herself through the crowd of people to make her way towards her locker not only to find her two friends but one extra.
“Hey guys,” Ashley smiled kindly and started to set her lock’s combination.
Spencer was watching her shoes nervously trying not to grab attention to herself; but of course she already had Chloe’s attention with her zebra stripped purse.
“I was just wondering if you’d like to go to the mall with me and my friends today? You can come too,” Spencer uttered nervously.
“Sure I’ve got nothing to do anyways,” Ashley answered pleasantly.
“Will you bring your purse?” Chloe asked and Ashley smacked her arm, “Oww jeez sorry… Yeah I can go.”
“I don’t know if my mom would let me,” Emma shrugged embarrassed that her mom was too protective. Chloe sighed loudly; knowing how Emma’s mom would go everywhere Emma went.
“You’re friggen 16!” Chloe announced; and Ashley giggled to herself.
“I know; but you know my mom…” Emma sighed.
“Unfortunately,” Chloe mumbled.
“So, yeah; um we’re going to be there at five,” Spencer softly said.
“We’ll be there,” Ashley and Chloe nodded as Emma sighed.
The four girls parted and made their ways home.
“Hey Spence,” Ashley greeted the girl casually.
“Hi,” Spencer replied anxiously; the two girls stared at one another for a long time until someone interrupted them.
“Yeah hi; I’m here,” Chloe impatiently said noticing Spencer was practically undressing her best friend with her eyes.
“Sorry Chlo,” Ashley laughed cause the two others to chuckle also.
“Yeah, yeah; but when you two start making out I’m gone I swear,” Chloe understood both of the girls had feeling for one another; so she decided it was her job to push these two together; and embarrass them with her jokes of course.
“So is Emma coming?” Spencer curiously asked.
“Nah, she asked her mom and she said only if she could come; long story short she’s staying home,” Chloe Shrugged; secretly thankful she did not have to spend time with her friend’s mom…
“Oh ok,” All three girls showed signs of relief. Of course Ashley and Chloe loved Emma as practically their sister; but their parents were laid back compared to Emma’s mom…
“Hey people,” Chelsea grinned as she walked over to them; Chloe noticed quickly that two guys were following this stranger.
“Hey; you must be Ashley and Chloe,” One guy had said; and shook the girl’s hands, “I’m Tom and he’s Sean.”
Chloe was mesmerized by the boy in front of her, and stared blankly at his hand that held hers. He smiled and soon pulled his hand away.
“So you guys want to walk around or something?” Sean asked calmly shrugging to himself; he noticed that everyone was quietly staring at each other but Chelsea and himself; which he found awkward.
“Yeah, sure that’d be great,” Ashley answered breaking her gaze from Spencer.
As the group was walking to the theater Chloe had tapped Ashley’s shoulder to get her attention.
