Ashley didn’t know Chelsea very well for she had only met her this semester; but she did know that Chelsea and Spencer were friends because she had seen them walking around the hall together before first block a couple of times.
“So Ashley, what’s your favorite color?” Chelsea said to the girl who was merely looking at the words written on the wall; she was surprised that Chelsea was trying to start up a conversation.
“Uh… light blue,” The girl stuttered while breaking from her haze.
“That’s cool; what’s your favorite animal?” Chelsea pushed.
“Dogs…” Ashley was drilled with question after question and it only stopped when their teacher told them to stop talking.
Ashley of course did not know the purpose for these questions; nor did she know the last question on the page which only the messenger and the deliverer knew. Yes; Spencer had asked her friend to ask the unsuspecting Ashley personal questions but Ashley was oblivious to the connection these questions had to Spencer.
Spencer on the other had was embarrassed by the fact that she made her friend question the girl she liked; and as the class ended the answers were passed off and Spencer was going to apologize to Ashley about the nosiness of her friend. She knew Ashley’s homeroom was the one after hers which meant her locker wasn’t far, and soon enough she saw Ashley putting books in her locker while two girls where trying to close it on her but had no such luck due to the strength that she was holding the door in place with.
“Hey Ashley,” Spencer greeted her new found friend nervously while shifting from foot to foot as she realized that the girls trying to close Ashley’s locker have stopped and were staring at her.
“Oh; hey Spencer,” Ashley replied with a warm smile.
“I love your purse,” One of the girls replied staring at Spencer’s zebra stripped handbag.
“Thanks,” Spencer mumbled while a hint of crimson tinted her cheeks.
“I’m Emma; and the girl with the zebra fetish is Chloe…” The group of three shared a light laugh.
“My crazy best friends,” Ashley chuckled while pointing to them; Spencer had noticed that Chloe was still staring at her purse.
“Can I touch it?” Spencer was surprised at the question but voluntarily handed her purse over to the girl.
“Oh shit,” Spencer heard Ashley mumble quietly as the purse was about to be handed off.
“Mwa Ha-ha-ha!! Suckers!” Was all Chloe sad before taking off running down the hall zebra purse in hand.
“Clo! Come back! It’s not your purse!” Emma shouted while starting to run after her friend.
“I am really sorry about that,” Ashley apologetically said to Spencer who just looked amused down the hallways as Chloe and Emma were following each other in slow circles trying to find the best way to run and attack.
“It’s fine; just glad I don’t take the bus,” Spencer mused out loud.
“Well that’s good. Um to explain; you see Chloe has this fetish for zebras… No one is sure why; we think she was dropped as a baby but we don’t entirely know; were just trying to think of a way to explain why she acts so strangely…” Ashley shrugged while walking over toward her friends and Spencer followed suit.
“You’ll never get me!” Chloe announced trying to dart past Ashley but no such luck seeing as her friend had her by the back of her shirt.
“Chloe; what have we told you about this?” Ashley said sternly to her friend that stopped struggling to get away.
“Never shoplift nor steal from anyone with zebra related items,” The girl sighed and hugged the zebra print bag to her chest.
“And what are you going to do with that purse now?” Emma had asked this time make Chloe mumble something, “What was that?”
“I’m going to give the purse back to its rightful owner,” Chloe sighed and handed the purse reluctantly over to a very amused Spencer.
“Good girl,” Ashley praised Chloe and let her shirt go; but Chloe was about to lunge for the purse again, “What did we say?”
“Fine!” Chloe huffed. By this time Spencer was trying to suppress her laughter and not succeeding; and Chloe glared at her purse.
“I just wanted to say sorry I heard my friend was interrogating you last block,” Spencer said trying not to seem guilty.
“Eh it’s ok; I know a lot of people just dying to get to know me,” Ashley and her friends laughed while Spencer new for sure that at least one person is.
“Ok, so I’ll just see you tomorrow,” Ashley nodded and the four shard good-byes.
Spencer saw Chloe cling to Ashley’s arm as the other three were turning around to leave and Spencer couldn’t help to have a pang of jealousy surge through her veins. But as they were walking away she heard Chloe begging Ashley for a pet zebra and that calmed Spencer’s nerves.
The next day at school their history teacher had played a movie and Spencer was pleased to the fact that she heard Ashley had taken the seat behind her.
About ten minutes through the movie Spencer had felt someone playing with her hair.
