The next day in class; their teacher had handed out worksheets which he allowed students to work together. Spencer had look back toward Ashley and noticed she was toiling away and she noticed she wasn’t working with anyone. Spencer took this as her chance.

Robert smiled to himself as he saw Spencer get out of her seat; he thought she was going to take her seat next to him like she had done before but he was sadly mistaken when she had taken the seat in front of Ashley. He was perplexed as to why she chose Ashley instead of him. He watched as the two girls talked easily while they continued to work on the worksheet. He paid no attention to who had taken the seat in front of him until they cleared their throat.

“Looks like she stole your girlfriend,” Spencer noticed the girl’s voice from yesterday; she was the one who had been bothering Robert. She noticed that Ashley had stuck her tongue out at the girl; an act which made Spencer chuckle to herself.

“Katy; you know she’s not my girlfriend,” Robert was aggravated and slightly hurt that Spencer had chosen Ashley over him.

The girl turned toward Ashley and remarked; “Now I can’t copy off of you.”

“Oh; how could I not think about how your grade was so dependent on me? I’m so sorry Katy,” Ashley replied sarcastically.

“It’s fine; I’ll just copy off of Robby. Just don’t let it happen again,” She mocked hurt; the group shared a small laugh and continued joking with one another.

“Robby, what are you going to do now? Ashley has won over the heart of your girlfriend?” Robert rolled his eyes once again at Katy’s annoying comments she kept pestering him and Ashley about their relationship with Spencer.

“Katy; can you please drop it?” Ashley tried to ask politely but meanwhile she wanted to yell at her friend.

“Fine then be that way. Spencer; who do you prefer?” She questioned leaving the others to roll their eyes.

Spencer froze and stared wide-eyed at her paper; she knew the answer but she did not want anyone to know just yet.

“Well Spencer; who would you prefer?” Katy pressured further.

“Katy; whoever she would prefer I know for a fact that it is none of your business.”Ashley growled and Katy took the hint and stopped bothering everyone.

As class droned on little words were spoken between the group of four. Three of which were truly wondering who would Spencer prefer and between said girl and her crush were secrete glances that they both shared.

As class had ended Spencer and Ashley were about to continue together to their classes they had to go but Katy had stopped Ashley from walking. Spencer looked at Ashley slightly saddened that her newfound friend would not be walking with her today but Ashley just smiled slightly and nodded for Spencer to continue on walking to her locker.

“So what is really up with you and Spencer?” Katy pushed.

“Nothing; just friends,” Ashley shrugged started to walk down the stairs.

“You guys are so much more than that; and you know it!” Katy shouted down the stairwell and started to walk in the opposite direction up the stairs.

As Katy walked to her next class Robert had caught up to her and they started to walk with one another.

“So; you really think Ashley likes Spencer?” Robert inquired.

“Well duh. It’s very obvious Robby,” Katy said in a matter of fact tone.

“But you can’t just keep saying things about them like that. You don’t want the whole school to know,” Katy nodded and started to regret what she shouted down the stairwell…

On the other hand Ashley was almost past Spencer’s locker when she noticed her friend had dropped her purse on the floor spewing out its contents. Ashley of course helped her pick them up; and Spencer was grateful.

“Don’t let the principal see this,” Ashley chuckled handing her friend her blue iPod.

“Oh yeah I know; I hate when they see it,” Spencer took her iPod and as they finished gathering up the contents they each had went their separate ways.

The day had gone by quickly and now fourth block had started and Ashley paid only a fraction of her attention to the do now that was posted on the board. She wrote quickly down the answer before the bell had even rang; which made other students think she did not bother to ever try.

Chelsea glided into the room and took the seat in front of her like every day; both girls shared a warm hello.

Ashley didn’t know Chelsea very well for she had only met her this semester; but she did know that Chelsea and Spencer were friends because she had seen them walking around the hall together before first block a couple of times.
