Chapter 3…
September 8th…Spencer’s first sleep over.
She was ten. Her father was pretty friendly so when a neighbor invited him and the family over for their daughter’s 12th birthday party, he gladly agreed to be present.
“Alright Spence, we’re just down the street if you need any thing.”
“Alright, Daddy.” She gave him the biggest reassuring smile she could. She was happy that she was invited to spend the night…but Madison was going to be there as well.
Madison, was a north sider, aka: Rich! Spencer grew up on hand me downs and food stamps. She got presents on Christmas and birthdays just like any other kid, but either way that didn’t stop the fact that she lived, almost literally, on the wrong side of the tracks, and it deffinately didn’t stop Madison from making fun of her. As if the torn old clothes didn’t already draw too much unwanted attention, Madison really knew how to dish it out.
“Hey chika, move it.” Madison shuved Spencer to the ground, making it clrea that she was in her way.
This is going to be a long night. Wait…what’s the birthday girls name again?
She shrugged it off and proceeded to the back bed room where a tiny, yet obviously athletic young girl sat on the edge of her bed with Madison.
“Alright…so what do you guys wanna do?” The eager little girl spoke up in excitement.
Maybe Madison will say her name first and then I can just roll with it. Does she even say any thing other than “Chika”? Crap!
“I’m good with what ever you want. It is your birthday after all.” Spencer said in a cheery voice.
“Cool,” She flashed Spence a big smile, then turned to Madison, who was obviously the more, uneasily-pleased, girl of the three. “well?”
“What, Chika?”
Yep….I knew it…she’s illiterate.
She gave Ashley a dumbfounded look before continuing. “I’m down with truth or dare.” And then came the evil grin, directed at who? You guessed it…Spencer.
Wow...I guess subtlety just isn’t really her thing. Spencer returned the favor in the form of a white hot glare.
After a few rounds it was Spencer’s turn to pick again.
