“why are you so mad?” she asked me

“you were at my game for like ten minutes” I complained

“no I was there the whole time…I just wasn’t watching from the stands…I was standing with Aiden and Erin over there” she said pointing towards the ice rink

“what happened in the second inning?” I asked her because I didn’t believe she was there

“you covered home while a girl was stealing with a passed ball and she totally ran you over…” she told me and I just rolled my eyes “…see I was there” she said putting her arm around me “you have nothing to get mad at me over” she said

“whatever” I replied putting my stuff in my trunk

“Spencer are we going to Chipotle?” my friend asked me

“uh I can’t! tomorrow though!” I replied then Ashley and me got into my car and we drove to my house because Ashley was eating dinner over

“Ashley…hey honey” my mom said giving her a hug

“hey Mrs. C…” she replied smiling

“well I made your favorite Ash…”

“chicken on the grill?” Ashley asked her

“of course” my mom added “it’ll be ready in about twenty minutes” she said then we went up stairs into my room

“I need to jump in the shower…” I told Ashley then I took my socks off and I had a huge scrape from sliding on my shin

“damn…” Ashley muttered when she saw it

“yeah” I replied “…I need to go wash this off” I told her then I left my room and she sat in there while I was in the shower, then I came out in my bathrobe and my hair in a messy bun and Ashley sat on the edge of my bed and held her arms out “what?” I asked her

“come here” she said nearly begging and I walked over to her and she wrapped her arms around my waist hugging me “I love you” she told me

“I know” I told her “I love you too” I added then she looked up at me

“yeah but I feel like I don’t say it enough…plus we’ve been fighting so fucking much lately…” she added which was true then I leant down and kissed her and then pulled away and she had a grin on her face “how longs it been?” she asked me

“too long” I told her kissing her again and she unwrapped my robe in the front and kissed my bare stomach and let her hands travel to the back of my thighs “mmm ash…” I moaned lightly then I lifted my right leg and put it up on the bed and Ashley’s hand cupped my ass as she kissed lower and lower

“you taste so good…” I told her as she was putting her clothes on for dinner and she looked over her shoulder at me and just blushed “…you’re so cute”

“and you’re so good at everything” she said coming up to me and kissing me again “I do love you Ashley…” she told me

“I love you too” I told her giving her a hug

“girls! Dinner!” Spencer’s mom yelled from downstairs then she gave me another quick kiss and we went downstairs to eat and we sat at the table with Spencer’s parents and her brother

“so Ashley how much more school do you have?” her dad asked me

“uh about two weeks…” I told them

“wow…” her mom replied

“you’re so lucky” her brother said

“yeah it’s crazy I’ll be at Coastal Carolina in five months…” I told them

“and maybe if Spencer’s a pain in the…” her brother started

“glen!” her mom yelled and I just laughed and Spencer rolled her eyes

“whatever, then she could stay with you” he finished

“yeah that’d be awesome” I said looking at Spencer and she smiled at me

“did you get offered any basketball scholarships?” her dad asked me

“I did…from UConn and Tennessee…” I told them “I actually met Candace Parker when I went to visit there to do some open gyms and practices”

“and you turned them down?” her dad asked

“well yeah I mean, not many girls make a living playing basketball alone, plus I love Coastal Carolina, but if anything I’d transfer somewhere out in California my sophomore year”

“why so far?” her mom asked me

“I’ve just always had a thing for California, plus we have family out there so my parents are fine with it…” I told them

We ate dinner then Spencer and me watched tv for a little bit and she rested her legs on me and I rested my arms on them. We really didn’t do much that day, I still knew she was kind of mad at me that I haven’t asked her to prom because Kelsey told me. One thing I loved was embarrassing Spencer by doing something cute, even though that’s totally rare because I’m not very romantic.

But the next day at school I had free period my last block of the day and I put a dozen roses in Spencer’s locker and a note ‘I love you. I’ll see you at your car.’ I wrote on it then she went over by Kelsey and they walked out to her car and I had put rose petals all around it and wrote “Prom?” in white car paint on her back window and she just looked around completely red in the face and you could just hear every “awe”

“so…will you go to prom with me?” I said walking up behind her and she turned around

“Ashley…” she said embarrassed

“will you?” I asked her again

“yes!” she said jumping up on me and kissing me

“good…” I replied and everyone laughed then she jumped down “…thanks Kels” I told Kelsey

“you knew about this?” Spencer asked her

“well duh…” Kelsey replied and I laughed

“…see believe it or not I do like your friends.” I told Spencer

“only when they help you try to impress me” she told me  

“well that’s pushing it a little” I replied “do you have practice today?”

“uh no, but I’m going tanning if you want to come with…” she offered

“yeah I’ll come” I told her “I can drive”

“okay” she replied then we walked to my car and she got into the passenger side

“so can I kiss you or are there still to many people around?” I asked her looking at her waiting for her to look at me

“too many people” she said simply looking at the roses I gave her

“okay then” I replied then it was quiet until we pulled out of school “so you like the flowers?”

“I loved the whole thing” she told me

“good…” I replied

“you know I didn’t think you were going to ask me…I thought it was just implied that we were going together, I mean I already had a dress” she told me

“so do you want me to take everything back?” I asked her confused

“what? no?” she replied “I told you I liked it” she added and I just focused on the road and she didn’t say anything for a few minutes “…oh so people were talking about Akron on New Years today…”

“New Years?” I replied “that was so fucking long ago…”

“I know…people were like talking about what a scandal it was that we showered together…” she told me

“that’s retarded.” I said simply

“yeah we get shit and then Natalie sleeps with little Severson…”

“which is disgusting” I replied “that’s so dumb”

“I know, at least we were dating…and I’m pretty sure I couldn’t have gotten pregnant” she told me and I laughed a little

“that’d be so fucked up if you did, plus I’m pretty sure we only showered…” I added and she was laughing as I pulled into a parking spot and we got out of the car and walked into the tanning salon “how long you going for?” I asked her

“fifteen minutes” she told me and I went in for the same time then we left about twenty minutes later and she drove me back to school

“do I get a kiss?” I asked her and she leaned over kissing me quickly “call me later?” I asked

“yeah” she replied getting out of my car and getting into hers then I drove home for the night
